Scholarships offered to Foreign Students in Hungary-

The scholarships can be applied for under two systems-

The HSB or Hungarian Scholarship Board welcomes applications from foreign students of any country or territory who possess a valid/effective educational co-operation programme with Hungary. It can also be a bilateral agreement duly signed by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Hungary or Hungarian Government. Evaluation and assessing of applications is done by relevant home country authority or Ministry of Education. The authorities also conduct the dissemination of all information regarding the application procedure and deadlines.

The applications assessed and forwarded by the home country of student is preferred though Hungarian Scholarship Board also accepts applications from home countries (or territories) submitted directly to HSBs Office.

Types of Scholarships-

Foreign students can apply for scholarship types in scholarship pool system. The scholarships provided in the bilateral agreements declared by the foreign partners are also characterized as per these scholarship types. In many cases, the co-operation programme/bilateral agreement doesn’t comprise of all the scholarships listed under the pool programme. Therefore, they may not figure out of the scholarships declared by the partner office.

In case, bilateral agreement does not enable for a particular type of scholarship listed in the pool programme, it is always recommended to submit their applications straight to Hungarian Scholarship Board in the pool system. The candidates who get the admission to a tuition-free program at an institution of higher education are exempted. In these institutions, the working language is different from Hungarian. Student Loans in Hungary

Apart from Scholarships, foreign students can also take Hungary international student loan. To be eligible for the loan, students must be a US citizen or US permanent resident attending one of the following approved schools. Students are required to check if the university they are applying falls in list of universities. The loan funds limit includes the total cost of education which is determined by the university. Typically total cost of education comprise of tuition, room and board, and living expenses.
